Tryout Information

7:00 p.m.

Tuesday, April 3

Tryout Orientation Meeting:

This parent/candidate meeting is a district requirement for the applicant and the parent/guardian.  At the meeting, the interested individual will receive an application, handbook, permission to audition, contract and travel/medical form.  The director will go over the handbook, requirements, costs, calendar dates, camp information, practice requirements, etc.

Wednesday-Thursday, April 4-5

Pre-Tryout Workshop:

This clinic is NOT required.  It does, however, allow the candidate to better prepare for the audition.  Cost is $10.00.  Checks are to be made payable to Keller High School.  This workshop is student led.

Please deliver to the Keller High School Counseling Center.

Tryout Workshop

The Tryout Workshop is required at “no cost” to any individual desiring to audition for the Indianette Dance/Drill Team.  Two audition routines will be taught at the workshop.

  1. Wear something comfortable for movement.
  2. Hair must be pulled back away from the face.
  3. No gum, food or jewelry is allowed.
  4. The application must be on file prior to the commencement of the workshop.

5:00 p.m. 

Friday, April 20

The Audition:

A.      Arrive by 4:00 p.m. and check in at the desk by the gym.

  1. Wear hair pulled back in a ponytail, black leotard, black tights, white socks, white pointed tennis shoes (like Keds).  No belt or cover-up will be allowed.  Hair ribbon is optional.
  2. Audition groups will be in groups of 3-4 individuals.
  3. Auditions are closed to all spectators.  Only those assisting with the audition will be allowed in the gym.
  4. Selection will be based on jazz technique (coordination, style, grace), high kick technique (flexibility, height, extension, strength, endurance, projection, memory, splits and overall appearance (posture and carriage)
  5. If necessary, callbacks will begin immediately following the evaluation of the last audition group.
  6. Following call-backs, the building must be cleared and only the candidate will be allowed in the gym to receive her letter.  Upon dismissal, receipt of the letter, each candidate will exit the building.

Team Meetings:

Order leotards, jackets, boots, etc.  $150 deposit due 4/23, payable to Keller High School.

Thursday, April 26

Officer Tryouts with the Team:

Officers audition in front of the team.

Officer Tryouts with Judges

Closed tryout session.

Team Training

Each afternoon the team will work on technique, participate in training sessions, etc.
